I am an early 1800s mall inspector, sent to inspect a large haunted U-shaped mall. I dawn my fancy antique suit and, accompanied by another inspector and our ethereal Overseer, enter the building.
We are immediately bombarded by fortune-telling machines and ghosts as we enter the building. A strange group of people who call themselves the Tellers are gathered in the plaza, predicting the apocalypse. We pay no mind to any of it as we push through to inspect the structural integrity of the building.
We enter the basement, looking at the rusting pipes and molded drywall. I push back a board and discover a completely shattered pipe, leaking dangerous gas into the basement of the building. I leave the basement to warn my company, but accidentally leave my oil lamp behind, sitting near the pipe. As I’m exiting the mall it begins to explode—I begin speeding up attempting to outrun the explosions as they draw closer. The Overseer begins to laugh as the explosions are nearly on top of me, revealing that she orchestrated the entire situation for her own entertainment.
In the wreckage of the destroyed mall me and my other inspector companion crawl out from the rubble, pulling out the remains of the Tellers we can find. We decide it’d be best to join them.
